About the Project
Hi my name is Chris Aguilar, I am a surfer and recently a stand up paddler. I was swept up into this sport (despite the protests of my fellow surfers) while on the Big Island. Jack Gillen took me out on his big old Ron House race board. I admit I thought- “I am a surfer, this will be easy”. Well, I kept falling over and over. But once I got it, that was it. I was hooked.
To build and keep this site going I work full time and take unpaid leave to travel and shoot.
For two years my boutique video company, Soul Surf Media had been producing surf videos for a couple smaller surf companies and broadcasters like The Travel Channel and Beach Cities Television. As I have seen this incredible sport blossom, I felt the need to document it. From the burgeoning professional class of rider to the every day paddler like myself who just loves to be out on the ocean
Our videos are “mini documentaries” – on the average, they are over 5 minutes in length, and include exclusive content you will only find here. Each video is archived and released as part of our DVD series that we publish every quarter. The mission of our site is to provide you with high quality video content, low ad intrusion, and a pleasurable viewing experience.
We have three distinct categories of videos: EVENTS, SUP STORIES (rider profiles), and SESSIONS (rider sessions, downwinds and other content, my personal favorite!)
I sincerely hope that you enjoy this site; it is called a project because it is always evolving and changing- just like our sport.
I need to extend a special thank you to the following without whom I could not be doing what I am doing. These people and companies have believed in this project since it started and some were with me during a particular low point at which I almost abandoned the entire idea of video production all together.
